What do you do to make sure you're getting better with each match?

Title says it all really. I play and I play, over and over, but I don't know that I'm actually getting better each time. I want to ask those out there, how do you make sure (or is it even possible) that with each match you're learning something new, or getting better in some way?

For example, currently with each match, I've been experimenting with different game play, and different goals....currently it's spacing. I try extra hard with each match to keep my opponent a half screen away (I play as Guile). So I've been trying to break habits of jumping, or moving when I'm at a half screen, and instead just stay there, and at the same time working to get to mid screen, and stay there. And with each match I try to get better at this one aspect.

How about you guys?

Help WIth Breaking Throws (without Crouch Teching)

This is seriously the only FG I've ever played where breaking throws that I KNOW are coming seems impossible. If I'm confident of a throw attempt, I don't want to be mashing CT. Is there anything anyone tell me that I may not have considered when it comes to breaking throws?

I am fairly new to the game and my main is yun atm and i really enjoy playing him, I am mostly having trouble landing combos and crossups. I picked up the game 3 days ago and i am playing everyday until i get better!
I guess what I am asking for, is someone thats pretty good at the game take me under their wing. Teach me how to play better, learn most match-ups and frames. If anyone would be willing to do this, and be dedicated to helping me get better and become a much better player, I would greatly appreciate it. Contact me through replying to this forum, or adding me in game.
My other fighting games that i have played is all the Blazblues and Guiltygear.

Also, my hours are different and my days off are most of the time different every week. I usually work from about 5pm to about 1-3am and sometimes i work from 11am to 7pm but anytime after or between then i will be on playing or online trying to learn a matchup or something. I am VERY dedicated to becoming good at this game!

Debug menu? Extracting frame data and move attributes?

I was wondering if it's possible to access a debug menu for SSF4AE for PC, kind of like Super Smash Bros. Melee's debug menu where you can see hitboxes and freeze the game/move through the game by each frame.

If not, is there any other way to extract the frame data directly from the game? Also how do you get the attributes for moves?

I know that this information is already online at EventHubs but I just want to know how to get this info from the game directly. Since this game does have mods for it I'm hoping there's a method out there...

Gamepad analog stick on PS3

I have a question about PS3 version of SSFIV arcade edition. I play only PC version which allows me to assign different analog stick directional input of a gamepad to different moves. For example, the up direction of the right analog stick can be assined to three punches, down direction – to three kicks. Previous SSFIV on PC didn’t recognise those inputs and for that I had to use additional software. My question is: is it also possible on a PS3 arcade edition version?

I haven't seen a thread like this in the AE forums so I figured why not if Third Strike gets one.
Name any players (recent or whatnot) you fought online. Chances are they're on this site, so mix and match.

I played a full on player match with @masterrorouni the other night and played some impressive individuals. One was JaySab.
I also played a great Zangief who was called Flashuni. That match was so intense, one of the best I had for a while, but I lost just about. I also played a good A rank Guile called Wokoma I think and managed to win. Great games if you're on here :)

"I noticed that the arcade machine block sounds differ from the console and pc versions counterparts. I figured that there must have been a request for this already, but I couldn't find anything.
So, does anyone know of a PC sound mod for the arcade machine block sounds?

These sounds actually work on the AE PC version of the game. I tested them last night, but I do not know how to edit out the announcer from Vanilla. He still says something before the round starts and "Fight" anyone know how to edit him out of the sound file and leave the announcer from SSFIV?

So I figured my first step into SFIV would be to take on the trials to learn characters combos/figure out which character I like. I knew I wouldn't get TOO far, but I figured I'd make it a decent amount.
So far I've been trying Ryu and Ibuki. ....and I can't get the ones as soon as they're actual combos.
I'm stuck on 7 as ryu which is just: cr. mP, cr. mP, cr. hK
and 9 as Ibuki: lP, mK.
For whatever reason, I cannot get the kicks to connect. Dan keeps blocking them, or it hits him, but the combo restarted. I try pressing the buttons early, late, as soon as the attack ends, mashing it, etc. nothing is working for me.
It must be my execution, but I don't know what to do to fix it. If necessary I could potentially post a video, but i'm sure there's something obvious im doing wrong.

Hi, is anybody willing to help me work on my game online? When I go through the endless match searches, I usually get people whose PP and BP are significantly higher than mine (0).

I've also run through a lot of problems as far as being able to figure out what I'm able to punish (I mainly play Dudley). Is there any way for me to figure these things other than just reading about every single matchup in the game? It makes me feel like people online just throw out move after move and when I try to punish them, they just throw in an EX after their blocked move or a DP and continue pressure. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!

PC Mod - Vanilla SFIV arcade sound effects

I had a couple of folks ask me to share this with them recently, so I figured I'd give it a public release if you're into this kind of thing.

Short version: This mod replaces key sound effects for SSFIV:AE (PC only) with the meatier effects from the vanilla SFIV arcade release.

What:

A sound pack replacement for the PC version of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcace Edition that reinstates the meatier/better sound effects found in the vanilla SFIV arcade version of the game.

Changed effects are:

- Blocking sounds for normals and specials
- Blocking sound for Vega's clawed attacks
- Projectile impact effect
- Projectile on projectile collision effect

Pending:

- Impact effects for all normals (having trouble normalising the volume to something acceptable) as the arcade sounds for these effects differ also
- Impact effect for all flame effects (Viper's burn kick, Ken's HP SRK)

Why:

Because I found it disappointing that the console and PC releases of the game featured such lacklustre sound effects compared with the arcade version, specifically the projectile effects and blocking sounds. Stranger still was Capcom claiming there was "no difference." Try this pack and decide for yourself.

Who:

Lumped together by Gamogo. Original effects created by Capcom's Hideyuki Fukasawa.

How:
----

Using a copy of the vanilla SFIV's arcade board data I extracted the key effect samples and merged them into the .CSB pack used by the PC version.

To install:
----

Assuming you own the Steam version of SFIV and you have it installed on your C: drive, the default data path for this replacement pack is:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\super street fighter iv - arcade edition\resource\battle\sound\"

Otherwise, go to the game's root directory and open the folder:

"resource\battle\sound\"

Within this directory you will see a file named "BTL_CMN.csb" (or just "BTL_CMN" if you do not have file extensions displaying). First, take a backup of this file. i.e. copy and paste it and rename it to "BTL_CMN - Original" or similar. This way if you do not like the modified effects, you can simply re-instate this file to go back to how things were.

Once you have a backup, copy and paste the "BTL_CMN.csb" file included in this archive into this directory and when prompted, choose to overwrite the file that exists. That's it - start the game and play.

Glad to see it's mostly positive, rather than just nerfing everything that's easy to do.
Glad to see Cammy get a wee nerf, didn't think Ibuki needed the buff, but guess it's a tradeoff for the neckbreaker
Looking forward to seeing a faster Ken again :)
Good to see the boxers and Honda getting some TLC, they're fan-favorites but don't get enough attention in SSFIV

I know this sounds like a crazy idea, but I really, REALLY enjoy this port and spent so many hours into the game. I'd hate to see it keep skipped for the second time. The game isn't' dead either, I can ALWAYS find a game online and have a lot of fun. There are many people who would kill for this update.
Either we get an update in the form of DLC or a new game, it doesn't matter, the goal is to get this brand-spanking new update on the Nintendo 3DS.

I'm astonished by the fact that I googled for 30 minutes and couldn't find any info on this. Not even with the words "arcade only".

So the question arises: where the heck are these? Bare-chested Yang and no-hat, wife-beater Yun?
Why has no one ever asked Capcom for those? Why am I so terrible at using the search function if that is the case?

These are pertinent issues.
